It’s a very weltered and troubled period in Romania where things we didn’t wanted are happening and we’re all suffering because of that. And no, I’m not going to make politics. This is not my purpose. I’d like to remind myself and you ‘Why are we loving Romania?’.
We love Romania because it’s our home: with good and bad, with poor and rich, with flats, hills and mountains, with victories and defeats, with old and young people and kids. We love Romania because you can’t compare the long summer nights we used to spend outside with all the kids who lived in our neighborhood or the walking to the school with anything else. We love Romania because of the smell of freshly baked bread, for the big and tasty tomatoes, for bacon, for boiled or fried dumplings and many other delights. We love Romania because of the big yards filled with animals: cows, pigs, hens, dogs and ducks. We love Romania because the majority is still Christian and because together we live with a clear and healthy mentality. We love Romania with its country roads, with big, thick and fast potholes but also with its resurfaced and clean highways. We love Romania because of its wonderful forests and landscapes which leave you speechless.
We love Romania for its teachers, for the nervous parents when the smiling scholars with flowers in their arms are starting a new year in school. We love Romania for its history which is both too fierce but also bright, with its wonderful traditions and unique traditional costumes created with so craftsmanship. We love Romania for its meadows filled with apple trees, plum trees and so on, with poppies near the driveways, with the villages where people are selling groceries at their own doors. We love Romania because of its vey special celebrations on the 24th of January or the 1st of December. We love Romania for its little shops at the corners of the streets or with the non-stop ones which have ‘saved’ us when we ran out of bread, milk or eggs. We love Romania for its music, with modern and classic creations, with writers, sculptors and many talented people in all domains. We love Romania as it is and knowing that everything can be better we’re praying more than ever.
Romania, we love you!
